David Brown, a Seattle musician who'd played with a few noise bands in his day, was unemployed in the winter of 2002. He picked up his guitar, wrote a slew of spare, dark, Americana-tinged songs, and Brown Bird took flight. Brown moved to Maine in order to go to school, where he hooked up with former bandmates Jeremy and Jerusha Robinson. The three started working together on Brown's songs and two EPs, Tauto (2004) and Brown Bird (2005), came of it. The Robinson brothers contributed some songs of their own to the group's first full-length effort, which was scheduled to come out in 2007.
