Claudia Brücken joined her first band Haarstr?ubend ("hair-raising") aged 14. Her second, the all-girl Topolinos lasted 2 years before she was invited to join a fledgling pre-ZTT Propaganda, which had been formed by former Die Krupps synthesist Ralf D?rper in 1982 - and which already included Susanne Freytag (also of Topolinos).
