Mark Holcomb and Misha Mansoor, the duo as Haunted Shores — Holcomb’s project which pre-dates his involvement in Periphery — and both dudes have as good a sense of humor about themselves as anyone in metal.
Haunted Shores sound COMPLETELY different from Periphery, even in spite of the fact that the band’s other collaborator is Misha Mansoor himself. Haunted Shores offer a mish-mash of styles — death metal, black metal and yes, progressive metal among them — but the result sounds nothing like the sum of its parts. The riffs are meaty as fuck and the production is massive, unsurprising seeing as Mansoor engineered and mixed it.
