Talent and determination define 19-year-old vocal powerhouse, Marla Morris. Her newest album, Ready for the Rain, showcases her coming of age as a writer and an artist with complex themes of lost love, friendship, and growth of the human spirit. Hailing from the small New England town of Bethany, Connecticut, Marla’s innate passion for country music is revealed through her stylistic songwriting. The first two singles off the up coming album, “Let You Go” and “Last Dance,” have already been featured on the “New and Noteworthy” country section of iTunes.
Ready for the Rain is Marla’s second project produced by Mark Oliverius, a Nashville legend at studio production and a frequent at the Grand Ole Opry as the keyboardist for Lorrie Morgan. Oliverius has commented that “Marla Morris has the silky smooth delivery of a seasoned veteran … her voice handles like a fine tuned Ferrari.”
Marla has been studying the Grand Ole Opry tradition from voice teacher/vocalist Rose Coppola Trabandt since she was eight-years-old, and has been playing guitar since she was thirteen. Her love for performing began at the tender age of 4, and her ability to command the stage has landed her gigs opening for Chuck Wicks at the legendary Copacabana in New York City and country superstar Kix Brooks (Brooks and Dunn) at Joe’s Bar in Chicago.
As a current junior at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, Marla is studying Music Business. She plans to continue pursuing a career in the music industry as she completes her degree, regularly performing at Music City favorites Hotel Indigo, The Rutledge, and 12th and Porter.
