Recognized as one of Latin America's most talented artists, Roberto Bravo began his studies at the Consevatorio Nacional de Santiago with Rudolf Lehman, and continued in New York with Claudio Arrau. Later on he continued his musical career at the Warsaw Conservatory, the Tchaikowsky Conservatory in Moscow, and in London with Maria Curcio. Winner of numerous national prizes and seven international competitions in Europe and the USA, Bravo's concert career has brought him success in the five continents.
Roberto Bravo has performed in the most significant concert halls of Europe and America. There are included: Carnegie Hall (New York), Place des Arts (Montreal), Salle Gaveau (Paris), Palau de la Musica (Barcelona), Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), Schauspielhaus (Berlin), National Theatre (Dublin), Teresa Carre?o (Caracas), Philarmonie (Warsaw), Palacio de Bellas Artes (Mexico), Kennedy Center (Washington), Glenn Gould (Toronto), and the National Arts Center (Ottawa).
He has worked with numerous internationally renowned conductors together with The Berlin Symphony, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London, and the Symphony Orchestras of Melbourne, Dresden, Caracas, Sao Paulo, Quito, Lima and Santiago.
Roberto Bravo has recorded an extensive catalog, among which stand Grieg's Piano Concerto and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.1, both recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London. He has also recorded albums dedicated to Chopin, Liszt and Schumann, as well as to Spanish, Latin American, popular Chilean and South American composers. His most recent works include a CD dedicated to some of history's most memorable movies, including 'The Mission', 'Il Postino' and 'Schindler's List', and the acclaimed Bravo/Piazzolla recording, which includes a selection of music by the famed Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla.
He has also recorded for the most important European radio and television networks like BBC, Radio Nacional de Espa?a, France Musique and ABC Australia, as well as for many of the most important South American networks.
Bravo's career has included a broad range of musical styles in addition to his classical training. He values all aspects of popular music, literature and poetry in their pursuit of liberating the human soul. In this way he takes music to all listeners, regardless of whether they are musically educated, or people with little or no access to the classical music's world. He has brought music to miners, farmers, the poor, the Mapuche Indians, to the Chilean Antarctic territory personnel and the Easter Island residents in the South Pacific.
Numerous national figures of the Chilean cultural scene joined Bravo in creating the "Roberto Bravo Foundation" to support promising new talents via scholarships, sponsorships, courses and seminars abroad.
In 1990 the Chilean democratic government designated him Honorary Cultural Ambassador. In 1995 the Tunisian government awarded him the Ordre Commendateur des Arts and in the same year he was awarded the Chilean National Peace Prize.
Roberto Bravo regularly teaches courses and master classes in American universities and European conservatories.
