Robby Hecht formulated his earnest, Americana-tinged folk sound, one that nodded to artists like Joe Purdy and Damien Jurado, while he was a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He settled in Nashville, TN, after he graduated, and spent the next few years touring the country, sharing the stage with artists like Patty Griffin and Ron Sexsmith, and snagging various songwriting awards. Hecht's debut album, Late Last Night, was released in 2008; the release was mixed by Roger Moutenot and featured appearances by some of Hecht's songwriting buddies, including Mandy Smith, Thad Cockrell, John Deaderick, and Andrea Zonn.
