Barbara Carlotti is an acclaimed French singer/songwriter whose music is deeply rooted in the chanson tradition. Born on July 2, 1974, in the Parisian suburb of Clamart, she made her recording debut in 2005 with the mini-album Chansons on the independent label Microbe. The album was well received and led to a recording contract with 4AD/Beggars Group. Carlotti subsequently made her full-length album debut in 2006 with Les Lys Brisés and supported the release with a tour of France, plus dates in Montreal, New York, and London, among other international cities. The song "Cannes" from Les Lys Brisés proved especially popular and was licensed for television use. Also in 2006, she appeared as a duet partner on the chart-topping album Michel Delpech & (on the song "Et Paul Chantait") as well as on the Bertrand Belin album La Perdue ("L'Aube Posée"). Carlotti then collaborated with Olivier Libaux on his album Imbécile (2007) before collaborating with producer Jean-Philippe Verdin on her second full-length album, L'Idéal (2008). In addition to touring in a musical comedy version of Imbécile, she toured in support of L'Idéal during 2008-2009.
