After the breakup of indie rockers Maybe Drowning Soon, guitarist Pete Bogolub holed up in his home studio and began to lay down what would eventually become the newly assembled Sems' debut album. Along with bass player and vocalist Mike Pecchio, Bogolub spent an entire summer honing and preparing the songs for mastering. Drummer/vocalist Noel Rose and guitarist/vocalist Keach Hagey completed the lineup and the group began to play live in support of Audraglint's release of Progressive Bedroom Discoveries in 2003.
