Bio:
Steff Nevers was born 1975 in the small Norwegian town of Drammen. He grew up in the similarly unknown town of Modum. Still, the move was worthwhile for the toddler because it was here that he came into contact with music. He was already convinced at a young age that he would become a musician. Instead of a classic violinist – his original career goal – Steff Nevers became an outstanding guitarist. His speciality: finger picking. Soon the stocky virtuoso was a heavily booked session guitarist across the whole of Norway.
In 2007 Steff Nevers decided to get involved in his own music – and realize his own dream. Recording an album in Nashville with the greats of the studio scene. With the assistance of the Nashville A-Team – drummer Eddie Bayers, guitarist Brent Mason, steel guitarist Paul Franklin & Co. – the Norwegian was successful in making a highly acclaimed album, strongly linked to the roots of music. Besides excellent reviews his first work in 2008 also brought him a recording contract with AGR/Universal.
His debut “Closest to My Heart” for the major label is now meeting high expectations – in an astonishingly relaxed way. As befits a worthy campaigner of country music the European newcomer is presenting 13 remarkably authentic tracks. Among these are good mood songs (One Beer a Day, Party at the Farm), songs in the country sounds of the 90’s (Redneck Rehab, Keep it Up), superb harmonic ballads (title track Stay for a While) and songs jam-packed with nostalgic feelings (Let it Rain). Steff Nevers interprets all of these equally different and yet perfectly compatible tracks completely effortlessly and convincingly with a warm sounding voice.
