THIS IS MY NORMAL STATE are a 5-piece band from Bristol, South West England, who create a brand of music which transcends genres such as shoegaze, ambient post-rock and dream-pop. Their sound is centred around fragile, ethereal vocals, which soar over beautiful sound-scapes of interlinking melodies produced by reverb drenched guitar loops and warm cello lines. A dynamic and powerful rhythm section allow the band to build sweeping crescendos, from gentle whispers to waves of crushing distortion, taking the listener on a journey through a range of emotions. Often compared to acts such as Sigur Ros and Explosions in the Sky, the band succeed in crafting their own original take on emotive, otherworldly cinematic music.
